Why CTB Studios Is Now Delivering WAV Masters Alongside MP3 Files
As CTB Studios continues growing and pushing for higher-quality releases, we’re officially upgrading the way we deliver final music files to artists.
Moving forward, all final masters will now include:
High-quality WAV master files
Standard MP3 versions for convenience and sharing
This change is important for one reason:
We want artists releasing through CTB Studios to have the best possible sound quality on streaming platforms.
Why This Matters
A lot of artists only upload MP3 files when distributing music. The problem is that MP3 audio is already compressed before it even reaches streaming platforms.
Once platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and others receive that MP3 file, they compress it AGAIN to optimize streaming performance across phones, cars, Bluetooth speakers, headphones, and internet speeds.
That means:
Loss of clarity
Less punch in the drums
Reduced depth in vocals
Less low-end energy
Reduced loudness perception
Less dynamic detail overall
In simple terms:Your mix can lose part of its real sound before listeners even hear it.
WAV Files Preserve Your Actual Mix
WAV files are considered lossless audio, meaning they preserve the full-quality information from the final master.
This allows streaming platforms to:
Encode the track properly
Retain more detail and balance
Preserve loudness more accurately
Deliver a cleaner listening experience to fans
Instead of compressing an already compressed MP3, the platform starts from a higher-quality source.
Think of it like uploading a high-resolution photo versus a blurry screenshot.
The better the source file, the better the final result.
This Is Becoming The Industry Standard
Professional engineers, labels, and mastering studios deliver WAV masters because streaming services are designed to work best with lossless audio sources.
Even though listeners may stream in compressed formats depending on their device or subscription, uploading WAV files gives the platforms the highest-quality version possible to work from.
At CTB Studios, we care about:
Better sounding releases
Better translation across devices
Cleaner streaming playback
Higher overall quality control
Stem Files Are Also Available Upon Request
For artists, producers, or engineers needing stem files for performances, alternate mixes, collaborations, or additional engineering work, CTB Studios can also provide tracked-out WAV stem files organized inside a ZIP folder.
Stem exports may include:
Vocals
Adlibs
Harmonies
Instrumentals
Drums
FX
Melody stems
Additional session tracks
Because organizing and exporting stems takes additional studio time, we ask artists to either:
Leave enough remaining time in their booked session for stem exporting
or
Pay a separate stem export fee if the work needs to be completed after the session
If you think you may need stems later, please mention it before your session ends so everything can be prepared properly.
What Artists Can Expect From CTB Studios

This helps artists stay prepared for:
